Approach

How we stay with a story.

We do not start with a shot list. We start with a person and a place that will not leave us alone. Writing leads. The camera earns its seat. The cut protects what was true in the room, not what would travel farthest online.

Process

Bolted down. Not a service menu.

  1. Listen

Sit still. Ask once, then wait. The second answer is usually the real one. Notes before lenses.

  2. Write

Shape the spine on paper. Voice, place, the line that cannot be cut. If it will not hold in words, it will not hold on screen.

  3. Shoot / Stay

Return to the room. Grey light is enough. Stay longer than the schedule wants. Let the place enter the frame.

  4. Cut

Protect the person and the place. Kill the clever beat if it betrays the truth of the cut. Quiet over spectacle.

  5. Share

Put it where it belongs. Tell the truth about what it is. No fake metrics. No invented applause.

Notes and contact sheets on kraft paper in warm window light.

Paper before picture

Writing leads. The camera follows, or it stays home.

We protect

  • The person in the room: their voice, pace, and dignity before any frame
  • The place that holds them: Bellingham light, water, weather that is not a backdrop
  • The truth of the cut: what was said and felt, not what would perform online

We don't

  • Put viral reach ahead of the person we are staying with
  • Build for rage, clickbait, or spectacle first
  • Chase a trend because the trend is the goal
